WALK IN THEIR SHOES AT UGG® AUSTRALIA MANCHESTER IN-STORE PRIZE DRAW OF CELEBRITY-DECORATED BOOTS IN AID OF CLAIRE HOUSE CHILDREN’S HOSPICE
UGG® Australia Manchester is offering customers the chance to follow in celebrity footsteps with the launch of its ‘Walk In Their Shoes’ in-store charity prize draw. Lucky shoppers could be in with the chance of winning one-of-a-kind UGG® Australia boots decorated by a well-known celebrity simply by guessing who did the handiwork.
The decorated boots will be on display from 20 August to 20 September 2010 and shoppers can enter the draw by simply completing an entry card in store (no purchase is necessary; one entry per person). For every entry received UGG® Australia will donate £1 to Claire House Children’s Hospice. Claire House – located in Bebington on the Wirral – offers a bright and vibrant place of hope for children and young adults. It needs in excess of £2.5 million each year to maintain its present level of service so the UGG® Australia ‘Walk In Their Shoes’ prize draw will provide much-needed support.
The mystery celebrity, who is renowned for their style, has hand-decorated the Classic boots with hearts, pearls and diamante crystals. They come complete with an autographed box and letter of authenticity to prove that the handiwork is genuine. One lucky winner will be picked from the correct entries and will be notified by 1 October 2010 and announced on UGG® Australia’s Facebook fan page.

Playful and refined, the Perlée jewellery collection by Van Cleef & Arpels ensures a glittering summer reflected in beads of white and pink gold. It is an ode to elegance and modernity that reflects the Maison’s sensibility of contemporary jewellery. Graphic and fun with a fundamental simplicity that provides allure and class, the Perlée collection by Van Cleef & Arpels features strands of tiny golden beads, and is imbued with the legacy of Van Cleef & Arpels’ expertise, and the aesthetics inspired by the Maison’s heritage.
The historic pearled border, braided onto a ribbon of gold, unfurls to create rings and bracelets, enjoying a newfound youth. The modernity of the pure designs, without excess or artifice, shines forth. The range plays with strings of golden beads transformed into slim contemporary rings and bracelets. It offers a mixture of assorted hues of white or pink gold, to wear stacked one by one, in summer and winter, adorning the skin with dazzling radiance. It extends an invitation to play with infinite joyful combinations, reflecting elegant sobriety or a dash of fashion folly according to one’s mood and desires. The Perlée collection brims with sophisticated jewellery, refined variations and cult reinterpretations. Such is the signature of the pearled border, an adornment that highlights a woman’s allure time and time again.
Simplicity is the most perfect, but often the most complex, of sophistications. If certain rings from the Perlée collection reflect impeccable symmetry and regularity, others indulge a flowing stream of pearls that increase then decrease in size around the band. The aesthetics are playful and the rhythm, unexpected, paving the way for a ring with five rows of beads.
This addictive piece of jewellery that becomes a self-appointed talisman for the modern man, can also be combined with a ribbon bracelet. With the Perlée collection, masculine jewellery could unveil a new streamlined and utterly self-confident side. The polished beads are also transformed into precious braids of matt or satinbrushed ribbons. Wound into rings, the Perlée collection exhibits various details: a refined engraving of the Van Cleef & Arpels name in italic cursive script, Alhambra motifs set with round diamonds, or captivating circles paved entirely with diamonds using an exclusive setting technique, which enables three different sizes of round diamonds to be incorporated.
Offering a refreshing change in tone, the Bangle bracelet has also become part of the Perlée collection. Rigid whether open or closed, it is radiant when multiplied on the wrist and invites playful combinations of white or pink gold. Just like the rings, it is adorned with a line of brightly polished beads. In another version featuring a gold ribbon hemmed with a pearled border, the Bangle offers four different facets for the eye to admire: an engraving of the famous Van Cleef & Arpels hallmark, the highly characteristic calligraphy of the Maison’s name, an Alhambra motif with diamonds and, like the matching rings, the same unique and surprising paving of diamonds.
PERLEE is a registered trademark of Van Cleef & Arpels.

COFFEE AND COCKTAIL CULTURE COMBINE AT LONGITUDE 0°8’, PICCADILLY’S SOPHISTICATED NEW BAR
Longitude 0°8’ to Serve “Latte Art” by Day and Economy Class, Business Class and First Class Drinks by Night
London: 17 August 2010 – Longitude 0°8’, Piccadilly’s urbane coffee-to-cocktails bar has officially opened, bringing European chic to the W1 bar scene. Tucked just inside Le Méridien Piccadilly hotel, the former Burlington Bar has re-emerged as Longitude 0°8’ following a complete design revamp.
During the day, Longitude 0°8’s identity will be rooted in coffee culture, serving espresso, cappuccinos and lattes prepared by an Illy Cafe trained Barista. Skilled in ‘latte art’ - creating miniature, intricate and drinkable works of art in coffee foam – the Barista brings the same attention and detail to quality coffee that in the past has only been afforded to wines, spirits and cocktails in the UK.
For those with a sweeter tooth, a comprehensive menu of 57 premium, made-to-order hot chocolates is provided, with guests choosing from three different Godiva chocolates from the Chocolate Humidor - 31%, 72% or 85% cocoa solids, depending on their taste - then selecting one of 19 natural flavourings, from delicious Baked Apple Tart and Butter Rum to Gingerbread, Chilli and Popcorn flavours.
Into the evening, Longitude 0°8’ will transform into the ideal spot for after work, pre-dinner and pre-theatre drinks, offering a selection of wines by the glass, premium spirits and speciality cocktails, alongside a complimentary tapas style menu for early evening munchies. As an industry first for a London bar, Longitude 0°8’ guests have a choice of Economy Class, Business Class and First Class drinks, reflecting the jetsetter mindset of many guests of Le Méridien Piccadilly, of which Longitude 0°8’ is a part of.
After dinner, Longitude 0°8’s barmen and mixologists conjure up cocktails, including “Longi’tinis”, exclusive to Longitude 0°8’, including Longitude Spice, a vodka based drink with elderflower cordial, lime juice, vanilla syrup, honey and fresh chilli.

SEPTEMBER SET TO SIZZLE AT THE CORNWALL FOOD & DRINK FESTIVAL 24-26 SEPTEMBER 2010
This year’s Cornwall Food and Drink Festival, sponsored by cornishfoodmarket.co.uk, is set to turn up the heat on Cornwall’s exciting food scene, with three action packed days full of the county’s finest food. To whet the appetite here’s a little taster of what to expect
With free entry, the festival on Truro’s Lemon Quay will be a who’s who of Cornwall’s celebrated food heroes. Exhibitors on hand to tick every box on the shopping list include established names such as Cornish Duck Company, Callestick Farm and Cornish Orchards, but don’t forget to look out for small, artisan producers like Nicky Grant with speciality chocolate creations, Simply Oil with a Cornish-produced cold pressed rape seed oil, Stingers nettle ale from forager Foodswild, and tantalising Cornish Cupcakes, all adding to the magic as they exhibit for the first time in the Food and Drink Pavilion.
Watch all the action in the Chef’s Theatre where familiar faces such as Nathan Outlaw, Neil Haydock, Fiona Were and Kevin Viner will be found, along with some new names making a stir on the Cornish food agenda.
The Croust Bar will keep peckish visitors smiling with a host of fine Cornish food. Check out Fish for Thought’s grilled plump scallops cooked in melted garlic butter or Crabby Jacks Cornish crab sarnies. For hungrier tummies, St Ives Beef will whip up a burger made from beef raised on the cliffs just outside St Ives. Veggies will be bowled over by Lafafa’s meze platters, whilst Rowe’s pasties and Tregothnan’s classic cream teas will satisfy those with a taste for the county’s traditional favourites.
Good food just isn’t the same without good drink and St Austell Brewery’s licensed bar will be serving a range of their award winning ales, along with acclaimed Cornish wines from Camel Valley, Healey’s Rattler Cyder and Cornish produced soft drinks. With Tregothnan teas and Origin’s fabulous locally roasted coffees, even the hot drinks have a Cornish flavour.
And for the children?
Little foodies will be very well catered for at the Funky Food Zone in nearby Tinner’s Court. Working in association with the Cornwall Food & Farming Group and Rodda’s Fresh Cornish Milk, kids will be able to get to grips with milking a cow, churning butter and making milkshakes. Mums and Little Ones is offering a baby change and bottle warming facilities.
On the eve of the show, lucky diners at hosted tables will enjoy a sumptuous meal prepared by the Magnificent Seven - Cornwall’s ‘fastest chefs in the west’. The chefs, including Michelin starred Nathan Outlaw and Rick Stein’s executive chef David Sharland, compered by Kevin Viner, will work as a team to cook a five course menu from the finest Cornish ingredients.
On the festival fringes look out for the festival flavour all over the county. From tours of Polgoon Vineyard in the far west, to ‘two for the price of one’ cream teas at St Mellion in the east; a seasonal evening at Rick Stein’s Seafood School and Deli in Padstow, or getting back to nature with a farm walk organised by Lobb’s Farm Shop at Heligan, the festival spirit really will be taking Cornwall by storm. As well as playing host to the festival on Lemon Quay, Truro is also celebrating with the Truro Trail, where special festival menus can be discovered around the city.
Where to stay?
The Hotel and Extreme Academy at Watergate Bay is offering free dinner at The Brasserie when you book two nights on a B & B basis during the festival. For more information on the festival and accommodation packages, please visit www.cornwallfoodanddrinkfestival.com.

A WORLD OF WELSH LAMB COMES TO THE BUTCHER AT LEADENHALL MARKET
An exciting line-up of top London chefs is set to cook up a Welsh Lamb extravaganza at The Butcher in Leadenhall Market, every Wednesday from 8 September to 13 October 2010. This means that for six weeks the freshest Welsh Lamb will arrive straight from farmers' gates, to be incorporated into a mouth-watering dish for City workers' plates.
Six unique dishes inspired by the flavours of the world will be devised by the chefs (one per chef), according to their area of expertise, with a different recipe featuring as the 'Dish of the Day' every Wednesday. Using British, Indian, Italian, French and Mediterranean themed ingredients to demonstrate the versatility of Welsh Lamb, the dishes will be expertly prepared on The Butcher's grill, giving City workers the opportunity to buy a bespoke meal for lunch. Moreover, each chef will be on-hand over lunchtime to talk to visitors about their dish and to offer samples of Welsh Lamb to taste.
Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef are currently the only Welsh foods designated with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status. This guarantees the buyer that the produce is born and raised all within Wales, and ranks Welsh Lamb alongside the likes of Champagne and Parma ham. The good farming practices associated with Welsh Lamb ensure it is a favourite among many of London's top chefs, an increasing number of whom now list the meat on their menus.
Stay tuned as the chef line-up is announced over the coming weeks…
