KIDD FASHIONS MENU FOR CHARITY

Exclusive London Fashion Week 25th Anniversary menu at Papillon in support of Children with Leukaemia
Jemma Kidd has joined forces with renowned Chelsea restaurant Papillon this London Fashion Week to develop an exclusive menu of her favourite dishes in support of Children with Leukaemia (http://www.leukaemia.org).
In recognition of London Fashion Week’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, the Jemma Kidd menu is priced at £25, with £5 from every menu sold going to charity. Everyone who orders the menu will be given a Jemma Kidd Make Up School goodie bag including lip gloss and ultra soft cleansing wipes, with a value of over £30 to thank them for their support.
Kidd said: “I’ve been in the industry for many years both in front of and behind the cameras. There’s still a myth that all models live on salad leaves – I love my food and have been coming to Papillon for years. I wanted to do something to support such a worthy cause and we came up with a menu of my favourite dishes.”
“These are my dinner party staples that I rely on time and again. The secret of my rack of lamb is a drop or two of Worcestershire sauce in the gravy to give it a real depth of flavour – it’s a simple cheat, but it works.”
David Duverger, head chef, Papillon, agreed: “The charity is dear to my heart having lost my young nephew to cancer seven years ago. At Christmas I sold myself on eBay for Christmas day and raised £6,000 for Children with Leukaemia. I wanted to find another way to continue the fundraising and Jemma came up with some fantastic dishes for a special menu. We get a lot of visitors from London Fashion Week as it is just down the road from us - I think they’ll be curious to see Jemma turn her hand to another craft.”
The menu will be available at Papillon throughout London Fashion Week (20 – 25 February 2009)

Teenage Cancer Trust
There’s never a good time to get cancer, but for a teenager the timing seems particularly cruel. Young people can get some of the most rare and aggressive forms of cancer. The emotional upheaval of adolescence can make a cancer diagnosis even harder to cope with.
Every day in the UK, six young people will have to face that diagnosis. Teenage Cancer Trust understands that teenage cancer requires specialist care and in fact, that young people have a much better chance in their fight against cancer if they are treated by teenage cancer experts, in an environment tailored to their needs.
Teenage Cancer Trust builds units in NHS hospitals which improve the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer. But as we receive no government funding, we rely on voluntary donations from people like you. It costs around £2million to build and equip a new unit.
We estimate that with the units we currently have around the UK, only half of the teenagers diagnosed with cancer now have access to this dedicated, specialist support. Our aim is build enough units so that, by 2012, every single teenager with cancer will be treated on one.

ESPORTA BRINGS INDOOR CYCLING WORLD RECORD BACK TO BRITAIN
Employees of the leading premium health club chain, Esporta, made history yesterday by breaking the world record for the largest indoor group cycling class.
The 412 cyclists set the new Guinness World Record™ at Esporta’s annual conference at The Gloucestershire Health & Racquets Club.
This is the second time that the premium UK health and fitness chain has broken the record in less than twelve months. The first, which took place on 28 February 2008, saw 323 high spirited Esporta employees cycling simultaneously in an organised class at the company’s 2008 annual conference. Esporta’s first record lasted five months before being broken in July 2008 by a gym in Valencia, Spain and then again at a trade exhibition in Toronto, Canada.
Esporta’s CEO, Glenn Timms, who led today’s class on stage alongside fitness instructor Anna Lovelock, said: “Indoor cycling is one of the most popular of the 3,500 classes that are organised each week at Esporta’s 55 clubs across the UK and is something that we consider ourselves specialists in. It’s high-tempo, high energy and instructor-led which creates an incredibly motivating environment that helps people get the most out of their workout. We are delighted to have reclaimed our Guinness World Record. Bringing it back to the UK illustrates our winning attitude and drive to encourage every single one of our employees to ‘live the dream’ and experience the benefits that our members enjoy when participating in group exercise classes at Esporta Health Clubs.”

NEW TITANIC ARTEFACTS REVEALED AT NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM CORNWALL
When developing and researching an exhibition, you never can be quite sure what artefacts and stories will be revealed and available to portray within that exhibition.
A Museum always hopes to unearth something that has never been seen before or some incredible historical fact, but to discover seven stories with accompanying objects which have never been on public display before in association with one of history’s most tragic disasters is more than most Museums could ask for.
National Maritime Museum Cornwall is hosting the national touring show, Titanic Honour and Glory, from 6 March to 21 June. The Maritime Museum’s curatorial team knew they wanted to grow the exhibition to highlight Cornwall’s connection with the tragedy and before the exhibition went live, appealed to all Cornish descendents of those on board or associated with the Titanic to get in touch to discuss their history.
The response was incredible and as a consequence the Falmouth-based Maritime Museum has secured numerous objects, kindly loaned by direct descendents of those on board the ill-fated White Star liner that sank on April 15 1912, which have never been on display before.
Recordings of a passenger’s memories onboard Titanic, letters and postcards sent from the ship, gold pocket watches, bracelets, original photographs and newspaper cuttings and the porthole from the laundry room on board the great ship will all be on display as part of Cornwall’s story when the exhibition opens on Friday 6 March.
One of the lenders, Jeannette Francis, daughter of William Richards who, with other members of his family, was on board Titanic emigrating to America, says: “Our family history has always been just that, our family history. But, hearing that National Maritime Museum Cornwall wanted to tell Cornwall’s Titanic story, we thought we might pull all the family’s objects together and finally tell our story.
“My father, grandmother, great uncle and great cousins were all on board Titanic and to tell their story is very special. This is a one-off. The objects loaned to the Museum mean the world to us and that’s why they have never been seen publicly before, but because it’s our Maritime Museum telling our county’s story then we are more than happy to share our history.”
The Titanic Honour and Glory exhibition tells the story of Titanic and her sister ships through ceramics, photographs, film, furniture, models and various objects that all were either on board Titanic or her sister ships. The Hollywood element hasn’t been forgotten either with costumes and props belonging to Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio as well as the Heart of the Ocean necklace worn by Kate Winslet’s character, Rose DeWitt Bukater.
Jonathan Griffin, Director of the Maritime Museum says: “Titanic is a story with many different levels: perhaps the greatest maritime disaster but one that has so many touching personal stories. Exploring the Cornwall aspects has highlighted just how widely the effects were felt. To have revealed little known personal accounts and exclusive never seen before objects is credit to the families of those who were affected by the disaster in having the faith to allow us to tell their story.”
Titanic Honour and Glory opens on 6 March and runs until the 21 June 2009.

GILGAMESH INTRODUCES BLACK RICE MENU
Acclaimed Head Chef Ian Pengelley is proud to unveil an Asian black rice menu at Gilgamesh this spring. Ian has created a menu of five eclectic dishes all incorporating black rice, and ranging from sushi to tempura.
Black rice is wildly cultivated across Asia, with Korean black rice often the most popular for its slightly nutty flavour. It contains more nutrients than both white and brown rice and also has high levels of the antioxidant anthocyanin. Black rice has been scientifically proven to lower cholesterol. It also does not contain the high levels of bran found in brown rice so can be ideal for those following a diet low in carbohydrates. Whilst it is not necessary for most people to follow a low carb diet, Ian’s alternative offers a healthier approach.
Ian’s exotic menu consists of Black Rice Risotto with King Crab, Yuzu, Truffle and Bonito, Stir Fried Black Rice with Chinese Sausage, Prawn and Egg, Black Rice Sushi Roll with Pickled Daikon, Sweet Tofu and Spicy Toro, Tempura of Warm Chilean Sea Bass Nigiri, Black Sticky Rice with Chicken, Salted Duck Egg and Barbequed Pork wrapped in Bamboo Leaf.
Black rice sushi will be one of the most interesting and healthy food trends of 2009.
