Joseph Fiennes His Passion over CoffeeJOSEPH FIENNES HIS PASSION OVER COFFEE
Join Joseph for a private reading at Carte Noire Readers
17th March 2010 - Hollywood star, Joseph Fiennes, has partnered with Carte Noire to create the perfect coffee moment, with the Carte Noire Readers - At http://www.cartenoire.co.uk/, viewers can watch the BAFTA award winning actor give private readings from some of literature’s most powerful and intense novels – perfect for heating up your coffee break.

Joseph will be reading specially selected, emotionally-charged extracts from a range of Penguin novels. From literary classics such as Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility to modern bestsellers such as Nick Hornby’s About a Boy, depending on your mood and the time of day, you can match your book choice with a cup of rich, velvety Carte Noire.

“With novelists in the family, reading is part of my DNA and with the Carte Noire Readers the hard work is done so you can just dip into some of the best bits whenever you have ten minutes to spare. I have a great appreciation for a wide range of genres but for me you can’t beat the intensity of the classics - and what better way to enjoy them than accompanied by a cup of quality coffee? Re-reading Therese Raquin was an absolute pleasure for me – and this campaign has inspired me to go back and read Dickens’ Little Dorrit in full,” comments Joseph.

The latest Carte Noire coffee, Cappuccino, launches this month. Carte Noire Cappuccino combines an intense espresso shot with milky froth to create a wonderfully balanced layered cappuccino, perfect to enjoy at home.

The whole Carte Noire range has a rich, velvety flavour with an intense aroma created by the 100% pure Arabica beans that are expertly selected to create a deeply aromatic blend that arouses the senses - the perfect companion to heighten the drama of the readings.

Log onto http://www.cartenoire.co.uk now, choose a book extract, make a cup of rich, velvety Carte Noire and once you’re sitting comfortably, then he’ll begin...

Stylish and affordable East Asian cuisine comes to Shoreditch
Monsieur M. brings a new dining concept to Old Street based on authentic and contemporary Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. Set in the stunning Grade II listed Shoreditch Town Hall, Monsieur M. boasts a vibrant red interior, chic furniture and huge Victorian windows helping create an upmarket yet relaxed ambiance. Serving a small menu of just three dishes each day, the food is executed to the highest of standards with guaranteed freshness. The keenly priced menu is complemented by a small number of side orders and desserts, and each of the main dishes, served in stylish asymmetric white bowls, is available in a vegetarian option.

Executive Head Chef Yai Jandee combines the spices and ingredients of his homeland, Thailand, with the freshness of Vietnamese dishes, creating healthy and distinctive Indochinese food. The food is prepared and cooked fresh on the premises each day using only seasonal and well-sourced produce.

Monsieur M. is an excellent place for lunch; speedy service comes as a result of the carefully planned menu and a lunchtime main meal is priced at £5.90. A special lunch deal is also available for just £10 which includes a main, side dish and drink.

Examples of dishes on the menu include Gang kiew whan gai, tender chicken pieces cooked in a fresh herbed green curry sauce with coconut milk, bamboo shoots and red pepper, served over aromatic rice; Pad kraprao nuer, beef stir-fried with chilli, basil and bamboo shoots, served on fragrant rice; Pho gai, Yai Jandee’s version of the classic Vietnamese chicken soup with rice noodles, fresh herbs, bean sprouts and Fried garlic and spicy prawn salad, a zesty Vietnamese salad with fresh herbs and spices. Side dishes include Fresh summer rolls with a choice of prawn, chicken or vegetables, Vegetable spring rolls, Prawn satay and Chicken with lemongrass. Pandan crème caramel rounds a meal off nicely. The daily changing menu gives variety to regular customers and allows people to sample a wide range of dishes over time.

The cuisine is accompanied by a selective choice of cocktails, freshly prepared shakes and smoothies, juices, beer, a few excellent wines, Asian teas and quality espresso based drinks.

Design

Designed by Berlin architects Buero 213, Monsieur M. has a warm and contemporary Asian-inspired interior. Using red and gold as primary colours in its high ceiling rooms in the Shoreditch Town Hall, the eatery makes great use of the Victorian features in its Grade II listed site accompanied with a minimal modern Asian flair. A key focal point is the central circular bar counter fashion from a moody dark bamboo wood.

Philosophy

The aim of Monsieur M. is to combine fast service and food preparation with the atmosphere of a welcoming neighbourhood restaurant for everyday eating.
