JASMINE HARMAN HUSKY TREK FOR DOG'S TRUSTJasmine presents A Place In The Sun – Home or Away with Jonnie Irwin and series five has just started on Channel 4.
From 12 – 18 March, Jasmine is taking part in an Arctic Dog Sledding Challenge to raise money for the Dog’s Trust.
She will be surrounded by a frozen landscape, 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle at temperatures of -28C! With a team of Alaskan Huskies she will travel 180km in just five days. It will be a huge challenge, both physically and mentally but Jasmine is passionate about the cause and hopes to raise over £2,500 for the Dog’s Trust. She is a huge dog lover and Shadow, the 8 month old Bernese Mountain dog is the love of her life.
She is almost half way there with donations going to http://www.justgiving.com/jasmineharman. This will help to rescue and re-home unwanted, abandoned and stray dogs.

MOYET AND NOISETTES TEAM UP FOR ROYAL CAUSE
Pop legend Alison Moyet and Noisettes will next month come together with A-listers from fashion, film and TV to play The Prince’s Trust Spring Ball.
The Spring Ball supported by St Tropez – the UK’s leading tanning and skin perfecting brand – will raise thousands in aid of The Prince’s Trust to help young people find jobs. The event will take place at The Hurlingham Club on 18th March 2010.
Britain’s glitterati will come together to enjoy live sets from Alison and Noisettes, as well as a performance by Flawless, stars of Britain’s Got Talent. They will then be treated to an exclusive set from BBC Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills.
Alison said: “I’m thrilled to be performing at The Prince’s Trust Spring Ball. It should be a great night, hopefully raising lots of cash to help disadvantaged young people in the process.”
Martina Milburn, chief executive of The Prince’s Trust, said: “The Spring Ball is set to be our most glamorous event yet. With St. Tropez’s kind support we will be able to give hundreds of young people the skills and confidence to find jobs.”
Michelle Feeney, CEO of St. Tropez the title sponsor of the 2010 Spring Ball adds: "The work that The Trust does at a grass root level in helping young people to boost their self-confidence is something we place huge importance in.
“At a time when youth unemployment is high; the activity that The Prince’s Trust undertakes is invaluable. Fashion and beauty may seem frivolous on the surface; however we as a brand are working hard to provide funds via this event and wider career openings with our beauty leadership programme."
Tickets are available by calling The Prince’s Trust events team on 020 7543 1389.
Youth charity, The Prince’s Trust has helped more than 600,000 young people since 1976 and supports 100 more each working day. More than three in four young people on Prince’s Trust programmes go on to work, education or training.
‘SCENT’ TO BED!
Celebrate World Book Day with this innovative new book company
An innovative book company is invigorating children’s bedtime reading in every sense – especially our most under-utilised sense - smell!
Finding success where others have failed, the Smelly Book Company has come up with not only the clever story lines to amuse, educate and entertain children, but it has managed to incorporate authentic and long-lasting smells into its books to give them an extra-special wow factor that kids love!
Using a patented system of ‘microencapsulation’, kids are invited to ‘smell and tell’ their way through the books, with the realistic smells on the pages lasting for as long as the books! They are of course fully tested and completely safe and non-toxic, with some smelling lovely and others definitely not so pleasant! For children of course, the stinkier the smell, the better the fun!
Scratch, Sniff and Mr Smith are characters that have been developed for the books by author Shibani Mohindra, and illustrated by Sue Sansom. Scratch the cat is not only lavender in colour, he smells of lavender too! He joins Sniff, the robot and Mr Smith of the loud-looking, tropical-smelling shirts and together they explore lots of adventures and smells along the way, with the ‘Smell and Tell’ feature keeping the excitement going right to the story’s end!
What’s more, each book comes complete with a set of 16 ‘smell and tell’ stickers that children can enjoy and share with their friends. A delightful and different approach, The Adventures of Scratch, Sniff and Mr Smith bring a whole new dimension to the reading experience by utilising a largely neglected sense and creating excitement around the activity of reading. The books will keep even the most reluctant readers engaged but also waiting impatiently for the next titles to appear. They are becoming firm favourites at ‘Show and Tell’ time at school, and have even been selected to appear on CBeebies Story Time!
There are currently three Scratch, Sniff and Mr Smith books available, with the fourth coming out in late spring 2010. Shibani is now working on a new series of travel adventures for Mr Smith and his friends for launch later this year, plus children can go online and join The Smelly Book Club for lots of extra fun and games, all centred around smells! Visit http://www.thesmellybookcompany.com for more information.
The books, which make perfect gifts for children aged 3-6 are available to buy at just £5.99 from all good children’s book sellers including ELC, TRU and Waterstones.
The current Scratch, Sniff and Mr Smith titles are:
Mr Smith Builds A Robot £5.99 Available NOW
The Case of the Missing Garlic £5.99 Available NOW
The Search for Stinky Pond £5.99 Available NOW
The Superwitch Contest £5.99 Available MAY 2010
All of The Smelly Books are designed, printed and published in the UK and the company donates a percentage of its profits to charity – details of which can be found on http://www.thesmellybookcompany.com
