Guests can stroll through the screened habitat to view the colourful butterflies. Among the garden’s two dozen nectar plants are Cape Royal plumbago, passion flower, coral honeysuckle, blazing star, butterfly bush, scarlet milkweed and canna lily.
300,000 bedding plants are installed for the festival.

At least 25 different plants, grasses and mosses of various colours, including pink and red begonias, dusty miller, palm fiber, palm seeds, ficus and lichen, are used to create and define features of the festival topiaries. More than 15 floral, herbal and spice ingredients of 10 popular perfumes are revealed in the Fragrance Garden presented by Guerlain at the France pavilion. Nearly 40 varieties of trees, plants and flowers are featured in this year’s Key to Outdoor Living garden, an upscale outdoor living area with the laid-back ambiance of Key West

LAUNCH OF MYLO - ONE OF THE FIRST OF A NEW RANGE OF PRODUCTS DIRECTLY INFLUENCED BY THE SECOND GENERATION OF THE SCACCHETTI FAMILY
Mamas & Papas founder Luisa Scacchetti is one of the forerunners to the modern day entrepreneur. Alongside Anita Roddick, Luisa was one of the first kitchen-table entrepreneurs and mothers who founded global brands from the seeds of ideas born of their own frustration with male-run brands of the 1980’s. Nearly 30 years later and with 65 international stores, the West Yorkshire based maternity fashion and baby goods brand leads the world in premium products for the discerning parent and their Hollywood to Hong Kong celebrity following is testament to Luisa’s ethos of considered design and the finest quality as well as her signature Anglo-Italian chic.

The inspiration for the Mamas & Papas brand was not a product idea but a person. Amanda Scacchetti, the firstborn daughter of Luisa, is the reason why this anointed Superbrand exists. Twenty-nine years later Amanda has risen through numerous roles to her current role of leading the brand’s product design team into the next decade. Her first project was to re-invent the humble pushchair for the next generation of parent and child. Using the latest in technologically advanced materials, ergonomic research and the finest design agency in the UK, Amanda premiered her vision of parenting to the world’s largest trade fair in Germany in September. Her ‘Mylo’ pushchair was the talk of the fair and since the product’s launch the waiting list has turned into a who’s who of celebrities and high-end boutiques around the world.

Speaking to Hot Brands Cool Places, Amanda described her unique position within the universe of luxury brands,

“When my mother founded Mamas & Papas she had no idea that it would become a global brand feted by celebrities and honoured with award after award. For her, all she wanted to do was to give to other mothers and fathers the kind of products she felt celebrated new life and made it a joyful experience but also raised the level of comfort and safety. Having being born into the family business I have spent my life surrounded by her mantra to attempt to improve on everything
and exceed expectation so when I joined the business after university I was the living and breathing embodiment of her vision to improve the lives of children and parents.

It is therefore natural for me to look at something and know that I can improve upon it. As my younger sister joined the company she too has come to the brand with a unique vision and collectively as a family and as a wider brand community we are able to bring about a very unique approach to the world of parenthood. And as my sister and I have recently become a mothers ourselves we are experiencing the brand afresh by directly joining the same journey and experiences as our customers. There are not many brands that have that level of resonance travelling through it’s very heart every single day.”

Mylo is the first of a new range of products directly influenced by the second generation of the Scacchetti family and being used by both sisters and in their roles as new mothers. The Mylo is launched this January in the 50 Mamas & Papas stores across the UK and details of the pushchair’s colour palettes and features appear on mamasandpapas.com/mylo . The waiting list’s premier signatories seems to be already emerging with international music sensation and Hollywood mother Gwen Stefani being the first to be snapped with the new Mylo. 2010 looks to be the birth of a new decade for one of the UK’s most loved brands.

The Government has set targets to significantly reduce CO2 emissions from all buildings, whether residential, commercial or public, new or existing.

All winning and commended photographers will have their images showcased in an international exhibition that debuts at the Natural History Museum, London in October 2010 before touring venues across the world. Winning images are also featured in a special supplement to the November issue of BBC Wildlife Magazine as well as a hardback commemorative portfolio.

Mark Carwardine, chair of the judging panel, zoologist, writer and photographer said, ‘Now in its 46th year, the Competition has become the international measure for great wildlife photography. We’ve made several exciting changes to the Competition this year, including the introduction of a brand new special award, called Wildlife Photojournalist of the Year, for the best portfolio of six striking pictures that tell a powerful story. People always ask me how you win. The answer is simple – originality. The judges are looking for something that stops them in their tracks, something really creative, fresh and surprising.’

Winning images from the Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition 2009 are on display at the Natural History Museum until 11 April 2010. To cater for its increasing popularity, the exhibition is showcased in the Museum’s largest gallery, with photographs exhibited on a larger scale than ever before. New features include an audio guide allowing visitors to hear comments from photographers and judges about the images with detailed audio descriptions of 30 images and the exhibition space especially for visually impaired visitors.

TOURISM SOUTH EAST CONTINUES TO TACKLE THE RECESSION WITH NEW CREDIT-CRUNCH OFFERS & DISCOUNTS
Eastleigh, 12th January 2010.
The regional tourist board, Tourism South East, is continuing to attract tourists feeling the credit crunch pinch with a revised microsite featuring excellent offers and discounts to the area.

Tourism South East launched its mircosite, www.southeastoffers.com, last January to great success. The regional tourist board has now updated this website to include some great new offers, such as several two-night hotel breaks for just £50 per person and £100 off selected self-catering accommodation, as well as money off, 2 for 1 and kids go free offers at many of the region’s attractions, hotels and activity companies.

Karen Roebuck, Tourism South East’s head of marketing, explained,
“In January 2009, we launched our very successful Winning in Recession campaign to showcase what a great place the South East is for a short break or a longer break. This year, we’re back with our updated and exciting southeastoffers.com microsite. With the Euro now practically on a par with Sterling, many Brits are choosing to holiday at home and discover the delights nearer to their doorstep.”

Great value hotel deals
There are plenty of hotels in the South East now offering great deals on accommodation. For example, the Old Chapel Forge in Chichester and the Holiday Inn Express Canterbury are both featuring two night breaks for just £50 per person. At the Whitney Four Pillars Hotel in Oxfordshire, it’s possible to stay for two nights for just £75 per night, whilst Pelham House in Lewes, East Sussex, has a similar offer for £99 per person for two nights. Finally, Brits can also have a two-night break at the famous Macdonald Compleat Angler in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, for £125 per person. All hotel deals are based on two people sharing a double room and are subject to availability.

Money off activities and tours
Many of the region’s top activity companies and tour companies are featuring some big discounts this year. Brits can try their hand at a daredevil sport, when they claim 33% off at the Airworks Paragliding Centre in Lewes, East Sussex. Get Mountain Biking in Leighton Buzzard, Buckinghamshire, is also offering £15 off any of its courses and rides, whereas those choosing New Forest Activities will receive 20% off kayaking, canoeing and archery.

2 for 1 offers on attractions & restaurants
A whole host of attractions and restaurants in the South East are showcasing 2 for 1 offers. These include Bird World in Surrey, Lemon Sole Seafood Restaurant and The Spinnaker Tower, both in Portsmouth, as well as The Canterbury Tales in Kent.

Kids Go Free
The South East has always attracted families due to its variety of cities, beaches and countryside, not to mention the wide array of attractions and hotels. There are therefore some great Kids Go Free offers in the region. There will be no charge for children at the following places: the INTECH Science Centre & Plantiarium in Winchester, the Pinewood Hotel in Slough and the River and Rowing Museum at Henley on Thames.

Self-catering discounts
Many holiday-makers choose to go self-catering in the South East, so it’s great to see the following accommodation providers offering £100 off their standard prices: Linden House, Park House & Powder Keg, all in Gosport, Hampshire, and The Chestnuts near Burford in Oxfordshire.
