Dolly's LogoMonday 14 March sees the opening of Dolly’s Café at Selfridges London, a 45 seat restaurant dedicated to two lovers of our founder Harry Gordon Selfridges. Exuding a certain 1920’s charm throughout the décor and the menu, Dolly’s Café celebrates the lives of the Dolly Sisters, identical twins Rosika (Rose) and Jansci (Jenny) Deutsch who enjoyed fame as Ziegfeld Follies, as well as other roles on stage and screen.

Born in 1892, and having emigrated to America from their native Hungary, The Dolly Sisters debuted on the vaudeville circuit in 1909 and joined the famous Ziegfeld Follies, following which they made half dozen films between 1913 and 1920 and toured the theatres and dance halls of Europe. Their private life was as melodramatic as their career was stellar. Around 1918, they became lovers of our founder - Harry Gordon Selfridge, known as ‘the showman of shopping’.

The Dolly’s Café menu not only tempts you with a different mouth-watering French Patisserie each day from Belle Epoque, created for Selfridges by chef Eric Rousseau, but also allows you to choose from an array of sweet and savoury treats.

Begin with a chilled glass of our very own Henri Giraud Champagne; sample a savoury delight such as a delicate smoked salmon open sandwich; quench your thirst with a Luscombe Sicilian Lemonade; choose from one of our handmade sweet treats including Millionaire’s Shortbread and Italian Espresso Coffee Cake; polish it all of with tea or coffee specially selected by our buyers.

Or let us choose it all for you with an Afternoon Tea - a fine selection of finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and your choice of tea or Champagne.
