Kylie Minogue, Sienna Miller
and Claudia Schiffer have been unveiled in a series of sensational new images, shot by world renowned photographer Mario Testino, to launch Fashion Targets Breast Cancer 2010 (FTBC) - the groundbreaking fundraising campaign from UK charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer which aims to raise over £1million.

Each of the images depicts the famous ambassadors appearing naked, wrapped in a striking silk sheet emblazoned with the iconic ‘target’ logo. The pictures will be used in a high profile national advertising* campaign across print and digital media, throughout the duration of FTBC 2010 from March 29th to mid May.

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer was established in 1994 by Ralph Lauren after his friend and Fashion Editor of the Washington Post, Nina Hyde died of breast cancer, and was the fashion industry’s response to the devastating impact of the disease. Since the launch of FTBC in the UK in 1996, it has raised over £10.5 million for Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s groundbreaking research, campaigning and education work.

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer 2010 marks the first time that Kylie Minogue has fronted a breast cancer charity campaign, since her own diagnosis five years ago. She said:

“It means so much to me to be part of this years’ campaign for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. I wholeheartedly support their efforts to raise funds for the vital work undertaken by Breakthrough Breast Cancer” – Kylie Minogue

Since its inception as a T-shirt campaign, FTBC has successfully evolved into a collection of Fashion Targets product lines from leading retailers and designers.


This year FTBC is working with retailers including M&S, River Island, Warehouse, Topshop, Coast, Laura Ashley, my-wardrobe.com, Whistles, Superdry and Melissa Odabash, who have each chosen items to be sold especially for the cause. All the items will be available to buy from 29th March 2010, both in-store and online with no less than 30% of the price of each item going directly to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

PUT ON A POT OF TEA WITH THORNTONS CHOCOLATES
The chocolatiers at Thorntons have been especially creative this month, as the leading British chocolate retailer is preparing to launch a new range of delicious chocolate teapots on Thursday 1st April.

This is about as useful as a chocolate teapot can get, and as tasty. Thorntons is launching delicious milk chocolate and dark chocolate teapot varieties, available online only from 1st April.

CONRAN LAUNCHES POP UP DESIGN STORE AT WESTFIELD LONDON
The Conran Shop is to launch an exclusive pop-up shop at Westfield London on 31 March for 10 weeks only, showcasing its capsule Well Considered range – a funky, urban homeware collection with a youthful twist.

BUDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS GET SNAPPING FOR MENCAP
Mencap recently launched its annual search for the next Rankin, Leibovitz or Snowdon, inviting photographers across the UK to enter Snap! 2010. This year, for the first time, Snap! has a theme: all entries will be about being active in some way.

Now in its eighth year, the photography and film competition is open to entries from anyone with a learning disability, their friends, carers and families. Snap! has attracted 1000s of entries since it began, showcasing images of the world through the eyes of people with a learning disability as well their families and carers. Last year, the winning entries were displayed for three weeks at Proud Camden, where they were seen by over 20,000 people. The Snap! outdoor touring exhibition then took a selection of these around the country, where they were seen by over 9 million people.

Mark Goldring, Mencap’s chief executive, said: “Mencap’s Snap! competition has become a much looked-forward-to event in people’s calendars. To celebrate that people with a learning disability will be participating in the next Paralympics, the focus of this year’s competition is around keeping active and enjoying games and activities. We’re looking forward to another year of phenomenal pictures and films.”

This year’s categories are: Active together, Watching the action, Local life, Sporting hero, Olympics and Getting out. Every photo entered into Snap! must either be taken by or feature someone with a learning disability and be accompanied by a short descriptive story. Mencap wants to hear from people about what makes them happy, sad, angry, proud or excited about being active. Entries will be accepted until 21 June.

Last year Mencap received over 1000 entries and wants to make this year’s competition even bigger and better. Winners will be announced at a prize winners’ party and award ceremony in September and a selection of the winning photographs and films will feature in an outdoor touring exhibition at venues across the UK from October.
