Synopsis: T-shirts, blue jeans, a white shirt, the little black dress, the trench, a tailored suit... Fashion has given us many icons – accessible, attainable pieces that are staples in everyone’s wardrobe. Often, an iconic garment becomes inextricably linked to the star who made it famous, from Audrey Hepburn and the little black dress and Diane Keaton working the androgynous look to Grace Kelly in a twinset and Madonna laced into a corset. This book takes a thematic look at sixteen classic fashion items as worn by the stars who made them famous. Each of the pieces has its own chapter introduced by an essay from fashion writer Antonio Mancinelli, followed by a series of unforgettable photographs of the clothes ‘in situ’ – worn by some of the most glamorous women of the last seventy years.• In the same snappy format as the instant bestseller PhotoBox, this anthology offers fresh perspectives on the timeless fashion essentials that define style.
• Among the stars featured are Brigitte Bardot, Madonna, Ursula Andress, Angelina Jolie, Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, Ava Gardner, Grace Jones, Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall and Emmanuelle Beart.
Author: Antonio Mancinelli is editor at HMC Marie Claire. He has worked for many journals, including Vogue Italia, Elle and Vanity Fair, and currently teaches at the Domus Academy in Rome.

This is a wonderful collection of classic fashion items and the stars that made them famous. As well as the introduction at the start of each chapter we loved the collection of iconic photographs that accompany them. The photography is stunning, and the sixteen fashion items are timeless, if you are looking for the perfect wardrobe, here is a great place to start. As mentioned in the Introduction ‘The great fashion basics give us a sense of security that stops us losing our heads, yet at the same time they can be adapted to fit our personal style’ and this book beautifully illustrates the personal style of the stars who made the garments famous; Audrey Hepburn in a classic little black dress, Jane Birkin in a T-Shirt, Twiggy in a Miniskirt, Grace Kelly in a Twinset, but what we loved was the richness of the other images of other women through the ages in the same iconic fashion item, demonstrating their own style.

This is a celebration of style and we adored it! Highly Recommended!
