The Robert Welch mission has always been to combine a search for innovation with a sincere respect for the traditions of the past so that quality, easy of use and fine design are in harmony.

The company was founded in the 1960s by Robert Welch, Royal Designer for Industry, in the Old Silk Mill in the historic Cotswold town of Chipping Campden. Robert Welch was one of the leading industrial designers of the 20th century and specialized in stainless steel production design.

Now under the direction of Rupert and Alice Welch (son and daughter of Robert), a team of designers creates award-winning products that will be lasting additions to any home. All products are designed in-house in the same studio where Robert Welch created some well-known everyday items, from the original ‘Kitchen Devil’ range of knives to Prestige kitchen utensils.

The Robert Welch cutlery collection, with over 20 patterns, is internationally recognized as one of the finest in the world. The range includes original designs by Robert Welch as well as innovative and award-winning designs from the in-house design team. The cutlery can be found in some of the best hotels and restaurants and is also available from top retailers throughout the world.

The company worked with professional chefs to develop the multi-award-winning Signature knife and utensil ranges. Each Signature knife has been individually constructed for its specific task in food preparation. Each blade is honed and tempered to razor sharpness using World Edge Geometry™ inspired by master sword craftsmen from Japan, producing a precision blade edge for effortless cutting and slicing. Performance-tested by Sheffield’s leading test establishment, they are in the world’s top 1% (of all knives tested) for initial sharpness and edge retention.

Signature kitchen utensils feature comfortable, rounded handles with a lipped end. Each utensil has been designed for its specific use and is robust enough for everyday use in the kitchen and elegant enough to be used at the table.
