The original Funky Olive was founded by designer maker Sophie Handa back in 2004 and was born from her passion for colour, shape and texture as well as a love of beautiful jewellery and accessories. Bored of seeing the same pieces everywhere Sophie wanted to design and make something a little different to what was available on the high street and so the company was created.

All the Funky Olive jewellery is handcrafted & made from a mix of semi precious gemstones, glass, wood & sterling silver all ethically sourced from around the world. Due to the nature of gemstones, each piece will vary slightly in colour, tone & size making each piece as individual as the people who wear them!

Funky Olive has grown from strength to strength and the collection now encompasses a selection of carefully chosen accessories including hand dyed cotton scarves & leather handbags as well as a wonderful selection of gifts & accessories for the Home & Garden. In the summer of 2010 Funky Olive launched a Lighting Section which has proven to be incredibly popular and has received some great press including features in The Sunday Times, Period Ideas & Good Homes Magazine.

Autumn 2010 saw the opening of the Funky Olive Studio, which had been a very long time in the planning. It now throws open its doors in a series of Open Studio dates giving our customers, both old and new, a chance to shop in a relaxed and hassle free environment. We’ve even been known to put the kettle!

Owner Sophie Handa truly believes in the words of William Morris to “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”. The same rules are applied to Funky Olive in that everything we stock we know to be useful or believe to be beautiful!

Where possible Funky Olive aims to support British designed and made products with their Cool Britannia Campaign. You will find a selection of unusual and unique items sourced from some great 'homegrown' companies and designer makers. Some of these items are hand made exclusively for Funky Olive and are simply not available on the High Street.
